How the calculator works
The amounts aren't guesswork. The model is calibrated on the Lovitations Wedding Cost Index 2026: with 50 day guests, 100 evening guests and the average style, the calculator lands exactly on the Dutch national average, excluding the honeymoon. For the guest-dependent items we use what a day guest or evening guest costs according to that same Index; how the total moves with a shorter or longer guest list is shown in the table by number of guests. The day-guest amount is an industry benchmark, the evening-guest amount a model estimate, not a measured figure. The styles build on that: luxury uses the top of the ranges and around one and a half times the standard amounts, while ultra-luxury goes well beyond that (think country estate, live band and open bar) and is very much a rough guide.
The Randstad switch is a rough guide: according to planners, venue, catering and photographer cost about 20% more there, so we raise only those items, not your whole budget. The invitations & communication item uses the average printing cost from the Index plus postage at the PostNL rate of €1.40 per stamp. The ceremony item follows the wedding fees the Index shows per council. Weekend rates are higher, but they vary so much between councils that we don't claim a national average for them.
